there is definitely a proper way to put a western saddle on the ground. it should be set upright so that the pommel and the horn and supporting it and the cantle is in the air. dropping a western saddle can certainly damage it.

I thought so, although as I said I have no knowledge on them what so ever! I would love to ride in one one-day but there is no use for one where I am so would have to be on my dream ranch holiday!
